Dr. Scott Mullaney
Dr. Mullaney also focuses on the training and education of our next generations of physicians. He is the Associate Dean for CME and Faculty Teaching Development for the UC San Diego School of Medicine and is the Associate Training Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency at UC San Diego. Stressing the importance of understanding disease physiology while empowering patients to be active participants in their healthcare, Dr. Mullaney is comfortable teaching at the bedside or in the lecture hall. He has received several awards from the graduating residents for his teaching abilities. “Through teaching young physicians we impact the care of tens of thousands of patients, not just those I see but all those they will see in their careers.”
Dr. Mullaney earned his undergraduate degree in Biology at Washington University in Saint Louis and his MD at the University of Maryland. After finishing his internal medicine residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham he completed his medical training in Nephrology at UC San Diego. He joined the faculty at UC San Diego in 1999.
When not at work, he can be found riding his bicycle or golfing with his son. He is an avid baseball and soccer fan as well. Dr. Mullaney lives in San Diego with his wife and child.
